It was in the charming neighborhood of Graça, one of the most traditional of the capital of Bahia,Salvador, that Rebeca found a home that, with brighting eyes, swears that will always be hers. Born and raised in Feira de Santana, the largest interior city of the northeast region of Brazil, she felt the need to move to Salvador for professional and personal reasons.
The search for the ideal new home was not easy. “I have always identified myself with the comfort and peculiarity of a neighborhood like Graça, one of the few, in Salvador, where it is possible to have a day on a day projected on a human scale; a neighborhood rich in services, commercial and cultural options ”. Despite not lacking options of new developments, what interested the young lawyer was an apartment from the seventies, inserted in an 8 floors building with just one apartment of 230 square meters for each floor, located in a residential street, a few meters far from the Rua Euclydes da Cunha, the main commercial street of the neighborhood, and close to several cultural points, such as the Rodin Museum, the Geological Museum of Bahia, the Carlos Costa Pinto Museum, the Aliança Francesa Cultural Center.
The challenge of this project was to unite the tradition of a building built 50 years ago in a traditional urban contest, with the modern habits, desires and needs of a young liberal professional woman , who loves to receive friends and family, organize gastronomic and film meetings".
The logic adopted in the reform values a balanced valuation of preexistences, in materiality as well as in spatial dynamics, which were revised in order to offer comfort and modernity. It was for this purpose that the hardwood floor of the apartment's social area were fully restored.
The choice of a discreet integration of the kitchen with the living room, as well as in the entrance hall and access to the home office, is marked by hydraulic tiles fitting in a perfect puzzle with the renovated floor.
The swing installed in the living room recalls the playful and nostalgic memories of childhood days in grandmother’s , creating a synergistic environment and prone to light conversations, combining with an elegant and at the same time cool layout, embracing the wishes of the owner.
The home office layout’s attention is focused on the visual domain of the living area, favored by a charming diagonally oriented desk, in combination with a rocking chair, once again creating new atmospheres from the valuation of pleasant memories. The same recreational language, in an intimate way, is adopted in the installation of a bathtub in the master suite of the apartment, with the creation of a wooden deck as an element of technical and visual support.
The environments personalization is rich in exclusive elements, design furniture, art works and photographs, which refer in more than one opportunity to the essence of the Bahian cultural scene.
